Actually, no need to even register. Just send me an email at modsocjobs@yahoo.com

Don't dig through the CVs of current VAPs and then speculate here on whether their background matches the description for a job.

As a reminder, we never discuss individual job market candidates here, potential or otherwise. Linking to somebody's bio or cv is just bad form. Cut it out.

Accusations are often leveled against institutions conducting "sham" searches, usually with scant (if any) evidence. Despite several previous notes on this topic, we have generally let these pass over the last few months. Perhaps that has been a mistake. As a reminder, we frown upon this unless there is something in the public record to support the assertion.
Regardless, accusing a known or knowable job market candidate of breaching a contract or otherwise engaging in unethical behavior is definitely not acceptable.

There are two new sub-forums, one dedicated to teaching and one to research. These were created a while ago by request, and at the time they were kept restricted to registered users. The idea is keeping it registered user only would have made it possible for people to share more identifiable/personal questions. Since it was rarely used, I've opened them up to non-registered users as well.

I have created a new subforum for 2015-2016 position announcements. Once this year's cycle is done I will create the remaining subforums (status, etc) for 2015-2016.

If you're going to use this forum to shill for an overpriced copy-editing service, you had better be damned sure that there aren't any typos or grammatical errors in your posts. Plagiarizing random text from other websites is also probably a bad sign.

I have little patience for "forum wars" drama. We already have one thread devoted to discussing the merits of the "SJMR" website, and that seems like enough. Please don't hijack other threads with this stuff.

Archivist, it is kinda ironic that the post that you deleted, which was talking about this site's slow death, was the only post on this site in the last 24 hours.
Perhaps you're under the impression that increasing traffic is one of the goals of this site or its maintainers. That's not the case. We do, however, continue to moderate it even during the lull seasons, and the same principles will be applied. In particular, posts from obvious trolls will be deleted.

I have zero tolerance for discussing the market prospects of specific internal candidates. Please see the thread Moderating Claims of "Inside Hire" if you need more clarification. This moderation rule is always in effect.

Once again, it is against the rules of this forum to name names before an offer has been accepted.

In case anybody is wondering, I have merged a recently created thread named "Seriously... why isn't more here?" with the one named "Concerned about SJMR." I'm not trying to censor the discussion, just keeping it organized. (And I think that one thread devoted to a discussion about SJMR is enough for us here.)

Once again, this is not the place to discuss whether you believe someone deserved a job or not.

Do not provide identifying personal characteristics of job market candidates.
