I noticed that last year someone posted and updated the jobs listed in the ASA employment service. Most of them are already listed in this forum, but it's useful to know which ones are using the employment service for people considering whether it's worth registering. Only a few so far, I'll try to update over the next few weeks.
E1 - 1 Trinity University Assistant Professor in Sociology, Sociology and Anthropology
E2 - 1 Framingham State College Assistant Professor of Sociology/Criminology, Sociology
E3 - 1 St Mary's College Assistant Professor-Tenure Track, Sociology
E4 - 1 Furman University Assistant Professor of Sociology, Sociology

I noticed that last year someone posted and updated the jobs listed in the ASA employment service. . . . Only a few so far, I'll try to update over the next few weeks. I did it last year, thanks for taking this on. Even though I'm registered for ASA-ES it is easier to see here what's new instead of navigating their system. One suggestion: there's no need to reproduce the entire list each time, just add the new ones. That way we won't clog up the search results later when somebody is looking for a particular school's actual listing.

there is no E5 for now. Maybe it has been under review by the system administrator, and will be available soon. this is just what I thought.

I have emailed two departments with listings on the ASA ES. Both times, I received responses letting me know that the search committee will be meeting later this summer and that they will be in touch with me if the would like to interview me. Is this typical? In other words, is there anyone out there who HAS landed an interview with a specific day/time at this point? Or, in other-other words, am I doing something wrong?

I've had the exact same experience. I've emailed 3 schools and all wrote back to say that they would be looking through CVs later in the summer and decide then who to interview at ASA.

Unless things have changed a lot since I did the ES, you don't typically email the schools. You register, provide your materials and give an availability, and then wait until schools contact you that you've been selected for an interview.

I'm with oldtimer. I think emailing would be highly irregular. I will add, though, that at least last year, there was a way to send a "notification" in the ES expressing interest in interviewing. But that would be about the only kind of contact you'd want to initiate with interviewing departments.

Send schools you are interested in a quick note through ES to get on their radar and then wait. Remember, it is still early yet.

Where within the ES do I message schools? I don't see this as an option, which is why I simply emailed them directly up to this point.

I used the ES twice. As I recall, there was some way to indicate your interest in a position (as someone above has noted), but I never sent an e-mail per se. Also, I landed a number of interviews once I was already at the ASA. So, try to keep you schedule as open as possible and check regularly once you arrive.
