I think that there were 230 applications for both positions, as I applied for Race and Ethnicity and my rejection also said 230.

Any word on the Oregon General Social Science position? That deadline was September 30.

I got my rejection letter too! Congrats to the three who made it! Please take the job so that the rest of us can go after other jobs :)

What do you think it means when you didn't get a rejection letter but you certainly aren't one of the three people invited for a campus visit? Is it reasonable to console myself that I am on some kind of back-up long list? Or (more likely), do you think it might be just a technical glitch?

They had about 10 or so on their "shortlist" and the 7 or so not invited for an interview will not be contacted at this point. If, for some reason, they have to go back to the list then it is possible wondering will get an invite. It should make you feel better, but I know it probably doesn't. it never makes me feel better.

Ah, better than nothing. Now I can tell myself that I might actually get into the top 3 somewhere else.
