Do you think it drastically reduces my chances of landing a job at one of these institutions if I don't interview with them at the ASA meetings?

I didn't interview with an institution at ASA even tho they were at ES, got a fly-out and eventually got the offer. It doesn't matter.

That seems to be the response I get from every person whom I ask that question.

Do you think it drastically reduces my chances of landing a job at one of these institutions if I don't interview with them at the ASA meetings? Different people have different experiences. Some feel that an ES interview helped them get the job. If you are the absolute perfect candidate maybe it doesn't matter, but in this market there are many great people looking for jobs. My opinion is it makes sense to make contact if you can, plus it gives you a chance to learn more about the department.

Has anyone been invited for ASA interviews with Knox College or Birmingham Southern College?

I have not requested interviews with either of those institutions, but if it makes you feel better I have sent out 7 requests and have only gotten 1 invite. Someone on another thread said that employers are really not going to start scheduling interviews until like the week of the annual meeting. Hold tight!

I think that some schools are scheduling on a rolling basis, since there are new people registering as well and so they may go back and look at the candidate pool again. For what it is worth I know that Colorado College, UT-Mississauga and SUNY Cortland have scheduled interviews.

That was just a continuation of the previous list giving the names of colleges interviewing at ASA. Not sure in regards to scheduling...although if you just message them through the ES, some are scheduling interviews now.
