can anyone tell me of a case they know about where an outside person was hired for a full-time sociology position at a CCC? i'm starting to feel like the back log of experienced adjuncts at CCCs are just too much to compete against as an outsider. This is exactly how I am feeling and what I am experiencing. Similar here from my limited anecdotal experience. I have out-of-state full-time CC experience (no schooling/work in CA) and was a finalist at a CCC last year, and the individual who got the job was a long-time adjunct at that school. When I look at the bios of new-ish faculty at most CCC's, it seems most have either received their degree in CA and/or taught at a CCC already.

Anyone hear from San Mateo CC District? Yes, they had first round interviews on campus a few weeks ago. FWIW, San Mateo and three other CA schools I've had contact with this year have all asked candidates to pay their own way for the first round with 1-2 weeks notice to travel and different teaching demo prompts for each.

Thanks. Yeah, that sounds about right. One CA school where I interviewed only revealed the teaching demo prompt 45 minutes before the interview.

Does anyone know what happened with the Long Beach City College process? Did they proceed with second interviews? Anyone receive a final offer?

Just curious: did anyone get hired at a Cal CC this year that wasn't already working part time in the department?
Thanks!

Looking at last year's topic here it seems that these CC jobs were really talked about starting January. Is that when most begin to be listed?
