The College of Humanities and Social Sciences seeks qualified applicants at the Assistant or Associate Professor level for the Coordinator of the Africana Studies Program. The position is a 10-month tenure earning academic position. Rank and years towards tenure dependent upon credentials. Teaching load is three courses per semester and is split between Africana Studies and the coordinator’s home department. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS PhD in a discipline in the college (Criminal Justice, Sociology, Anthropology, Psychology, Political Science, English, History, or Modern and Classical Languages) or a PhD in Africana or African American Studies; Experience teaching courses related to Africana or African American Studies; Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and learning, as well as scholarship; Commitment to diversity and inclusion. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS PhD in the social sciences or experience teaching courses in the social sciences; Previous experience in a leadership role in Africana, African American, or Black Studies; Experience managing personnel, budgets, and administrative duties; Experience mentoring students in experiential learning such as internships, undergraduate research, study abroad or service learning.
