Thanks for your work on this forum.
In a couple of recent posts you said you "stickied" them. Could you explain what that means?

when you make a topic "sticky," you make it so it is always on top of a forum. In this subforum, for example, no matter when anyone creates a new topic, the topics "new forum," "general guidelines," and "introducing the permanent soc jobs forum" will always be on top because I set them as "sticky." It is a way of making sure a discussion or announcement is always visible.
So the two that I stickied recently were because one had an important reminder to people (status of search discussions go elsewhere) and the other had information that people are constantly searching for (the number of positions each year).
As for why the neologism "stickied" was created, that is because the forum function that does that is the "sticky" button.
