Research Project Manager
Position Summary
This full time position manages all aspects of a federally-funded project that reviews organizational and community responses to selected incidents of mass violence (and/or natural disasters with the goal of developing a Resource Kit of “best practices” and implementing Resource Kit education for those who will be responding to future events.
The Research Program Manager performs both quantitative and qualitative research and data analysis to support the project and is responsible for report writing, as well as general administrative duties related to the project. The research manager develops original research plans, schedules, and protocols to ensure successful completion of the project; manages the project team conducting the research; writes technical reports, journal article submissions, and prepares conference presentations; completes work independently with broadly defined work objectives and limited review of overall results. The position also maintains detailed documentation and databases for all work performed and ensure that project deadlines are met.
Knowledge and Experience
Requires a doctoral degree in social work, public administration, anthropology or sociology, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates comprehensive knowledge and understanding of general research principles and practices. Also requires a minimum of five years of relevant professional research experience, excellent communication skills, and computer literacy. Position will be based in the New Canaan, CT office and require repeated travel to VOICES New Brunswick, NJ office.
