Assistant Professor of Sociology - Family and/or Childhood and Youth Position Description The Department of Sociology at the University of California, Davis, invites applicants for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level for scholars conducting theoretically-driven, empirical research related to the family and/or children and youth. The expected total salary is $100,000-$132,000, commensurate with experience. We are especially interested in scholars who study marginalized or “alternative” family formations and whose work centers axes of inequality such as gender, race, class, and sexuality. Applicants’ research and teaching should align with one or more of the department’s existing areas of strength, which include race/ethnicity, immigration, gender/sexuality, education, culture, political sociology, and crime and law. All methodologies are welcome. We seek a scholar strongly committed to quality teaching and mentorship. We welcome applicants whose research, teaching, service and/or community outreach demonstrably attest to the inclusion of under-represented and/or non-majority individuals into their respective areas of specialization. The successful candidate must have a completed Ph.D. in Sociology or a related field by the start of courses (September 25, 2024).
