Is anyone else worried about what's going to happen to race/gender scholars in Florida? I applied to work at a few public universities, but now I'm wondering if I should withdraw my applications.

State level politics are always something to consider on the job market. But definitely do not withdraw your applications. All else equal, would you rather have a job in a state that is a less than ideal political environment or not have a job at all? My answer is the former. Any job can lead to more job opportunities in the future if you put in the work. Most academics, especially these days, don't stay at one school forever. Get a job in Florida, work hard for a few years, assess the political environment with real experiences, and move if you need to. Lastly, if all goes well and you get offered one of these positions and you really don't think you can work in that state, you could still decline the offer. But you don't get to make that decision unless you keep the application in the pool and let the process play out. Good luck.

Thank you. I’m an AP and already have a job but have been wanting to move. At the time, Florida seemed like a nice place to live.
But I get your point. Doesn’t hurt to wait and see what happens.
