About the opportunity
The Department of Sociology and Social Anthropology invites applications for a probationary tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Social Inequality and Quantitative Research Methods, commencing July 1, 2023. Applicants must hold a PhD in Sociology (or a PhD in a closely related field, with other degree(s) in Sociology), or be near completion. The successful candidate will have the ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in quantitative methods and data analysis, from survey design to regression techniques. The ability to teach courses in political sociology and/or social movements will be considered an asset, as will the ability to teach an undergraduate course in the sociology of law. We also hope to recruit someone interested in developing research on forms of inequality related to the local (Atlantic) context. Applicants must be able to situate their work in the Department’s Social Justice and Inequality area of concentration. They should have a promising research profile and agenda, and demonstrated potential for teaching excellence. They will be expected to contribute to both undergraduate and graduate teaching and supervision (at BA, MA, and PhD levels). The position is subject to budgetary approval.
