Nature of Work The successful candidate will be expected to teach introductory and upper-level undergraduate courses in sociology and have expertise to teach upper level classes and conduct research in Medical Sociology with an average teaching load of twelve hours per semester, student advising, and committee assignments.
Facts About the Institution: Albany State University is a fully accredited senior unit of the University System of Georgia. Employees receive benefits provided by the University System of Georgia, including, but not limited to, hospital and major medical insurance, group life insurance, participation in the Georgia Teachers? Retirement System, Optional Retirement Plan (Faculty and exempt employees only), Social Security and Tuition Remission after six months of employment.
Training and Experience: The successful applicant should have a Ph.D. or expect degree to be awarded no later than December 2012 or MA in Medical Sociology. Area of concentration is open but, preference will be given to candidates with strong background in research methods, social institutions and statistics.

Illustrative Examples of Work: The individual filling the position will also engage in scholarly activities leading to publication, serve on departmental and university committees, participate in university functions and perform other duties as assigned.
