Description
The Statistical Analyst will work closely with all audience managers in Annual Giving and Alumni Relations providing insights, intelligence and strategic recommendations through the use of analytics, statistical models and data mining. This position is responsible for: Advancing the knowledge and understanding of constituents managed within Annual Giving and Alumni Relations by conceiving and developing analysis and reports. Finding opportunities to improve alumni engagement, and donor solicitation, cultivation, retention and lifetime value based on performance trends. Proactively identifying opportunities through data mining and statistical techniques. Designing, building and owning statistical models that enable the improvement of alumni engagement and donor solicitation, cultivation, retention and lifetime value. Providing significant input on strategies and tactics for activities in Alumni Relations and Annual Giving. Incorporating knowledge and awareness of external trends that may influence engagement and giving success.
Qualifications
Minimum:•Experience: Five to eight years related analytical experience
•Skills: Creative thinker with analytical, organizational, reasoning, and problem solving skills; ability to interact with internal customers and other support services groups like AIS via excellent verbal, written and presentation communication skills; advanced computer literacy; ability to maintain records and produce finished products that are both detailed and accurate. Ability to multi-task and prioritize work. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, SAS (Statistical Analysis System) or other statistical software systems and tools (SPSS) is essential. Ability to perform data modeling and conduct trend analysis is required.
•Physical Mobility: Normally sedentary position with some mobility; ability to frequently travel between the PPG offices and other campus office areas within Pittsburgh.
•Environmental Conditions: Usual office setting; close contact with computer, monitor, and keyboard for long periods of time.
•Mental: Ability to pay close attention to detail, meet inflexible deadlines, remain calm during difficult situations, work under pressure, and work with frequent interruptions.
•Other: Weekend and evening hours required. May need to be present and assist with programs and events provided to better the Alumni community such as Carnival, Volunteer Forum, Ceilidh, etc.
Preferred:•Education: Graduate degree in statistics or related field preferred
•Experience: Demonstrated successful experience in strategic analysis and planning; Prior development or fundraising experience, preferably in an academic setting.
•Skills: Some fundraising experience in non-profit or higher-education institutions is preferred.
