Hi, I've generally heard that it takes job committees about a month/month and half between the time apps close and short listed candidates hear back. What are folks experiences with this? What about the long list and interviews? How common are those becoming (interviews before the fly outs/ short list creation)?

Having been on both sides of it, the initial Zoom/phone interviews can be anywhere from two weeks to around five weeks after the applications close. It all depends on how quickly the department can meet and if the university HR or Dean has to approve the list first.

The quickest for me as an applicant was 2 weeks. Longest was 2.5 months. Typical is around 4-5 weeks I think.
In my department, it usually takes about 4 weeks and that's on a pretty compressed timeline. Search committee has one week to review, full faculty has one week before vote, and then deans take about 1.5 weeks or so to approve.

Seems like roughly a month, after that I usually just assume they've moved on without me. From zoom/skype to fly-out, I just assume after two weeks the committee has passed me by.

It really depends on the department and how fast they are able to move things along.
Last year, I had an R2 get back to me just 3 days after the application deadline, inviting me to do a Zoom interview. On the other end of the spectrum, I also had a comprehensive regional university get back to me 2 full months after the application deadline, inviting me for an initial Zoom interview. 3 days vs. 2 months is a big difference.
For the schools that don't do initial Zoom interviews, I'd say wait about 6 weeks after the application deadline until you decide to move one.

agree with the above. generally, if you havent heard anything within a month after the app deadline, you are probably not making the cut. after zoom interviews you should hear something 2-4 weeks after if you made the final round. always exceptions of course, but those are general timelines I've seen/experienced.
