MISSISSIPPI STATE UNIVERSITY—The Department of Sociology invites applications for an Assistant Professor to begin in fall 2023. Preference will be given to candidates whose research focuses on communities, environment, health, or inequalities. Preference will be given to candidates who, in addition to their content area, can teach undergraduate or graduate courses in quantitative methods. Completion of the Ph.D. in Sociology by time of hire is required. The position requires active participation in the teaching, research and service responsibilities of the department; teaching introductory, advanced undergraduate and graduate courses; and participation in departmental activities.
The department has more than 400 undergraduate majors and 40 sociology graduate students with strong ties to the African American Studies Program, Gender Studies Program, the Social Science Research Center, the National Strategic Planning & Analysis Research Center, and the Southern Rural Development Center. Programs offered include BA, BSW, MS, and a Ph.D. in Sociology. www.sociology.msstate.edu
