Visiting Assistant Professor of Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies – LGBT, Queer, or Sexuality Studies (VAP – one year)
Position Summary:
Gettysburg College invites applications for a Visiting Assistant faculty position in Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies in the interdisciplinary Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Program (http://www.gettysburg.edu/academics/wgs ) beginning August 2022.
Qualifications:
The Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Program at Gettysburg College seeks a scholar with graduate training in Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies. Primary specialization in LGBT, Queer, or Sexuality studies is preferred. We are interested in a queer of color approach or in work at the intersection of race, nation, and sexuality, but we welcome other approaches. We also welcome candidates with expertise in global sexualities to apply. The successful candidate will have a dedication to undergraduate education and be prepared to teach a 300-level feminist theories course, other required core courses for our major, and courses in area of specialization for a 3-3 teaching load. PhD is preferred at the time of the appointment, and teaching experience is preferred.
Diversity, equity and inclusion are foundational to the mission of the college, and we strongly encourage applications from members of groups which have been historically under-represented in higher education. The college and the department therefore place high value on someone who will promote an environment of understanding of and respect for diversity in their service, teaching and research.
Application Details: Complete applications must include a cover letter, curriculum vitae, teaching statement and teaching evaluations, a sample of current research, and contact information for three professional references, at least one of the references should be able to address the applicant’s teaching effectiveness. To be seriously considered, candidates’ application materials should demonstrate understanding of and commitment to teaching in the liberal arts environment, and substantively discuss how they design their courses and promote diversity and inclusion in the classroom. All materials must be submitted through Gettysburg College’s online system: gettysburg.peopleadmin.com/postings/4282
References will be contacted by Gettysburg College via email to submit letters of recommendation electronically. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled. Inquiries can be addressed to Nathalie Lebon, Chair, at nlebon@gettysburg.edu
