Job Description
As part of the national network of University Centers for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDDs), we share a vision that foresees a nation in which all Americans, including Americans with disabilities, participate fully in their communities.
The Research Associate will conduct qualitative and quantitative research, analyze data, prepare publications, and develop training or other products from two federally funded research projects. This position will be responsible for supervising graduate research assistants and other student employees and will require a strong degree of initiative and independence in performing assigned job responsibilities. This will include independently analyzing and writing up results from research results; coordinating data upload from remote sites using leading edge technology; supervising data input by research assistants; preparing training materials and leading training workshops on data collection protocols and health promotion content.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Demonstrated ability to clearly communicate with the public verbally and in writing.
- Experience with implementing research and program development projects in a timely manner following a pre-developed work plan.
- Demonstrated ability to identify and report on project status and ask for assistance if needed to complete the project.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Masters degree in psychology, sociology, economics, rehabilitation counseling, public health, or other field that prepares individuals to conduct analytic and intervention research.
- Experience conducting literature reviews.
- Experience with supervision.
- Experience using data base software such as Access or Excel
- Experience conducting quantitative research and analyzing quantitative data. Experience using quantitative statistical software (i.e., SPSSx, SAS, JMP, Stata, etc.).
- Experience conducting qualitative research and analyzing qualitative data.
- Knowledge of Community Based Participatory Research (CBPR) methods or Participatory Action Research methods (PAR).
- Experience developing training materials such as curricula, book, workshop content, Powerpoint presentation, etc.
- Experience conducting presentations live and via the Internet.
- Experience with disability related programs including rehabilitation systems, various federal and state agencies (e.g., Departments of Labor or Transportation, National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research, Centers for Disease Control), and/or community agencies (e.g. Centers for Independent Living, Small Business Development Centers, Mental Health Centers, Job Service, fraternal organizations).
- Experience working with or on behalf of adults and/or youth with disabilities.
Experience Required
Bachelors degree in psychology, sociology, economics, rehabilitation counseling, public health, or similar field.
Screening begins December 5, 2011 and will continue until position is filled.
