The Sociology Department at Wheaton College (MA) seeks applicants to fill a one-year visiting position for the 2022-2023 academic year. The primary responsibility will be to teach 6 undergraduate courses (3 per semester). We are seeking a candidate that specializes in and could offer courses in one or more of the following: criminology/criminal justice, race/ethnicity, and/or transnational/global sociology. In addition to these, we would also welcome a candidate that could offer courses in media and society, race and ethnicity, introduction to sociology, family, and other courses that complement our current offerings. To apply for this position, please visit jobs.wheatoncollege.edu to complete the online application. In your application, you will be asked to provide a cover letter that addresses how your teaching would contribute to our undergraduate liberal arts institution and to furthering Wheaton’s commitment to fostering a community that both celebrates and includes a diversity of voices and perspectives in our content and classroom. Additionally, we ask for a current CV, a teaching statement, and the contact information of three professional references. Within the teaching statement, please describe some of the classroom techniques/strategies that you have used in the classroom and the courses you would be interested in teaching. Finalists’ references will be contacted after we conduct interviews. A Ph.D. in Sociology is preferred at the time of appointment; however, strong ABD candidates will be considered. Review of applications will begin March 18th, 2022 and continue until the position is filled. Questions may be directed to: Justin Schupp, Assistant Professor of Sociology at schupp_justin <at> wheatoncollege <dot> edu
