Job Summary: The Liberal Studies program is seeking candidates for a full-time position at the rank of Assistant Professor. Year 1-2 will require the development and teaching of courses in the major as well as extensive community relationship building to establish internship programming. Responsibilities include the teaching of introductory and advanced courses in the major, the development of program and course level assessment protocols, curricular planning, and academic advisement of students in the program. The successful candidate for this position will be asked to teach courses outside the major in support of the college’s Blueprint and general education program. Full-time faculty appointments are for a ten-month contract period and the standard teaching load is twelve credit hours per semester. Student advisement and participation on college committees is required. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Final appointments are budget dependent.
Requirements/Qualifications: Minimum Master of Social Work, Advocacy, or related field with significant professional experience required. Ph.D. in Political Science, Sociology, Critical Theory, Social Justice, or related field preferred. Interdisciplinary background preferred, e.g., history, political science, sociology, or social work. Experience teaching in higher education; program and course development; assessment practices; advocacy relating to social justice; local and regional social justice organizations and movements; development and planning of student and community social justice events; and student advisement preferred.
