FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
The Department of Sociology at The City College of New York, invites applications for an anticipated full-time, tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor to start at the beginning of the Fall 2022 semester. The successful candidate, once hired, is expected to fulfill the College's requirements with regard to teaching, research, record of publications, and service to the institution.
Our department facilitates active research and student engagement in local and global issues, with scholars whose accomplishments have national and international reach, at a university with a distinguished history of facilitating award-winning research and economic mobility among its students. Our department is housed within the Colin Powell School for Civic and Global Leadership (Division of Social Science). The Colin Powell School is a leading center for social, political, and economic research and education with a particular emphasis on addressing problems that impede equity, diversity, prosperity, stability, and peace in local and global communities.
Our department is looking for a candidate who is actively engaged in research and committed to teaching and supporting a diverse student population. Substantive and methodological areas are open; however, preference may be given to candidates with an expertise in gender and sexuality, law and society, health, environmental sociology, and quantitative methods and approaches. The department is also currently developing a concentration in data justice and equity.
QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates are expected to have a Ph.D. at the time of appointment. Also required is the capacity to teach successfully and inclusively in-person, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and the ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.
