I would've applied to this one, but I think they required letters up front, and I was tired of asking my references for more LORs. Best of luck!

It's just that the guilt never goes away. I already applied to 70+ tenure-track jobs. I would've applied to this one as well, just to see what would happen (if they didn't require letters up front).

You should really use Interfolio. You sign up, they send a single email to each of your references asking for the rec letter. If the application is through Interfolio, you can upload the letter directly. If its through a different system where the hiring department asks for reference email addresses, Interfolio generates an email address for each letter. When the dept emails them, it prompts the system to send a letter. Most schools are expecting generic reference letters and your references don't have to do anything aside from the initial upload.

I do use Interfolio, but this school was using something else. Don't you have to pay to have Interfolio send reference letters to departments that aren't using their system?

Yeah, that’s what I figured. I’m not interested in paying for that, so it’s fine. Miami University wasn’t my dream school, but I would’ve applied just to see what would happen if it didn’t require letters up front.

I resisted paying for it initially just like you, but I can tell you that it is worth it just for the peace of mind re: letters. It sucks to pay them money for something like this but the endgame is what matters ultimately.

I definitely hear you (re: peace of mind). Will keep that in mind moving forward.
Thanks again, and best of luck!

I have not heard anything since but they did mention that invites for virtual visits would go out mid-late February so they are likely still forthcoming
