The Department of Sociology and Social Anthropology invites applications for a probationary tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the Sociology of Law and Crime commencing July 1, 2022. The successful candidate will be required to teach the Sociology of Law and other courses in their specialization and must demonstrate the ability to teach courses in sociological theory or methods. Applicants should be able to situate their work in one or more of the Department’s three areas of specialization: Critical Health Studies; Economy, Work and Development; or Social Justice and Inequality. Applicants must hold a PhD in Sociology (or closely related field) or be near completion. They should have a promising research profile and agenda, and demonstrated potential for teaching excellence. They will be expected to contribute to both undergraduate and graduate teaching and supervision (at B.A., M.A., and PhD levels). The position is subject to budgetary approval.
