Any news here? I know the the Fall break probably slows this down a bit.

Are there 2 open positions? Another listing was posted to HigherEdJobs on 11/29... Looks like two jobs unless they've drastically altered one.

to the people applying to this job, do you have friends and family nearby? If not, it seems like a terrible location.

to the people applying to this job, do you have friends and family nearby? If not, it seems like a terrible location. I got rejected from this job a few weeks ago. I wish those still in the process the best of luck. My friends and family aren't particularly close to Bemidji. People have different preferences regarding where they want to live. It may seem terrible to some, but not to me. I applied because Bemidji has a lot of natural beauty, and I enjoy small, quirky towns that lean liberal politically. Plus, being a professor in a small college town generally means you can have a more direct and significant role in the community. It's not for everyone in academia, but I was genuinely interested in the prospect.

I've lived in small towns and I often find it hard to meet new people compared to even mid-sized cities and above. So I personally don't apply to any colleges in small towns away from people I know. Also would be hard for my partner to find a job that uses their skills.
