Penn State Abington is pleased to announce a cluster hiring initiative that aims to contribute to the diversity and excellence of our community of scholars and teachers. For fall 2022, we are seeking to appoint three to five tenure-track faculty that will expand our curricular offerings in areas related to diversity as well as support university-wide efforts to promote inclusive and equity-minded teaching strategies.
They will teach 9 credits/semester, pursue an active research agenda, and contribute to the department, college, university, and profession through service. Areas of research and teaching may include African American and/or Latina/o Studies as well as interdisciplinary approaches such as Global and Transnational Studies, Latin American Studies, Health Humanities, Critical Race and Ethnic Studies, and Digital Humanities. Responsibilities may also entail teaching courses in the writing program, including introductory courses in rhetoric and composition. Successful candidates will be expected to work effectively with a diversity of students that represent a range of backgrounds and social identities, including those with varying levels of academic preparation as well as demonstrate a commitment to innovative, engaging, and student-centered learning and teaching that is responsive to the needs of diverse students in a major metropolitan area.
Successful candidates must hold a Ph.D. or appropriate terminal degree in African American Studies, Latin American Studies, Comparative Ethnic Studies, Health Humanities, Writing Studies, or a related discipline by the appointment start date.
