Diverse Family Relationships/Structures and Context (Open-rank) Assistant/Associate/Full Professor
The Department of Human Development and Family Studies (HDFS) at Purdue University invites applications for an Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor (tenure track) beginning August 2022. We seek applicants who can contribute to promoting diversity and excellence in the academic community, and who have expertise in one or more areas of family relationships that include, but are not limited to: approaches to prevention and intervention that emphasize family structure or family partnerships with systems of care (e.g., through community systems, schools, health care, and non-government organizations); family caregiving within diverse families; interpersonal dynamics in the management of major stressors (e.g., health problems, family separation) in diverse families; and, interaction patterns and physiological synchrony in diverse family relationships. Applicants with research experience in dyadic or family-focused research methods and statistical approaches are particularly welcomed. This position will complement existing work in the department addressing Latine families, multiracial youth and families, cross-cultural development, impact of stress across the life course, and dual-language learners. This is one of three open positions in the department. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Human Development and Family Science or in a related social or health science discipline.
The successful candidate will be responsible for initiating, conducting, and publishing research, including procuring internal and external funding; mentoring undergraduate and graduate students; and engaging in service at the campus, community, state, and/or national level. We are seeking a faculty member with a strong promising (Assistant) or established (Associate, Full) published program of research capable of attracting external funding. The candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses pertaining to family diversity, stress and coping in contemporary families, interventions in health and health care, as well as additional courses based on department needs and candidate expertise. Applicants with a history of, and commitment to, mentoring students from underrepresented minority groups are encouraged to apply and should highlight this work in their diversity and inclusion statement.
