The Sociology Program at Alma College, Alma, Michigan invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor. This is a full-time, tenure-track faculty position beginning August 2022.
The department seeks a candidate with an innovative research agenda and teaching experience in one or more of the following areas: issues of justice and equality, criminal and social justice, sociology and the family, and areas that would contribute to a graduate program in public health. Candidates should be able to contribute to teaching core courses in sociology, including introductory sociology, social theory, research methodology, and senior seminar. A commitment to teaching undergraduates in a liberal arts environment and evidence of effective teaching are essential. Alma College prioritizes inclusive pedagogy, experiential learning, and opportunities for student research. Typical teaching load is six units per year. A Ph.D. is expected prior to the start date.
