Description The Department of Sociology at Boston College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor to begin in Fall of 2022. We are seeking to hire a scholar with expertise in ethnographic research methods. We are particularly interested in ethnographers who work in the subfield of the sociology of religion, as well as the subfields of political sociology, global and transnational sociology, and criminology. We will also prioritize candidates whose work intersects with other areas of specialization within the Department of Sociology’s graduate program (see www.bc.edu/content/bc-web/schools/mcas/departments/sociology/people/faculty-clusters.html). The tenure line is housed in the Sociology Department, which has both graduate (PhD and MA) and undergraduate programs. Qualifications A Sociology PhD completed, or near completion, is required. Application Instructions Required documents include a cover letter describing relevant research, teaching accomplishments, and future plans; a current CV; two pieces of recent scholarship; and the names and contact information for three references. The screening committee will begin reviewing applications on September 15, 2021, and will continue to review them until the position is filled.
