The Department of Sociology at The University of Alabama in Huntsville invites applications for a full-time, one-year lecturer appointment beginning August 2021, with the possibility of renewal for a second year dependent upon performance, funding availability, and need for the position. Ideal candidates will be serious educators and scholars with excellent teaching skills and prior online teaching experience. The successful candidate is expected to teach undergraduate courses in Introduction to Criminology, Introduction to Sociology, and Deviance and Social Control, and possibly, subject to department needs, an additional course in the candidate’s area of expertise. The regular teaching load is four courses (12 credit hours) per semester and may include both online and traditional formats. The preferred qualification is a Ph.D. in Sociology but the minimum qualification for the position is an M.A. in Sociology, or at least 18 credit hours of graduate course work in sociology if the candidate’s degree is in a closely related field.
