Senior Vice Provost for Research Steven Fluharty has announced that Penn
will again be offering the Postdoctoral Fellowship for Academic Diversity
program. In its inaugural year the program was a great success and Penn
recruited four outstanding postdocs to the following schools:
Arts and Sciences, Medicine, Nursing, and Social Policy and Practice.
The program will provide up to four (4) three year fellowships to be
cost-shared 50:50 between the Office of the Vice Provost for Research and
the school in which the Fellow's research is to be carried out.
Fellowships may begin as early as January 2, 2012 or, for especially
talented candidates, may be deferred to date no later than June 30, 2012.
This program is intended both to help advance the careers of the Fellows
themselves by providing the opportunity to build a research portfolio, as
well as to enrich the community of scholars, both here at Penn and more
broadly, by creating new opportunities for individuals from groups
previously underrepresented in the academy.
A complete description of the program, including guidelines for application,
can be found at
www.upenn.edu/research/research_site/postdoc_diversity.html.
The deadline for completed applications is August 2, 2011.
The School will review completed applications from candidates who identify
SAS faculty as potential mentors; it will recommend three finalists to the
Office of the Vice Provost, which will appoint a committee to select the
awardees.
