Position Summary:
The Ethnic Studies and Women’s & Gender Studies programs at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville (UW-Platteville) invite applications for a tenure-track faculty position. This is a full-time, nine-month position starting in August of 2020. UW-Platteville is a comprehensive four-year institution of higher education dedicated to empowering personal and professional growth to prepare students to be critical thinkers and global citizens. The Ethnic Studies and Women’s & Gender Studies programs strive to educate students on the historical and contemporary experiences of marginalized groups and to consider various ways of ensuring social justice.
Responsibilities:
We encourage applications from candidates with intersectional research experience in interdisciplinary fields who can teach issues of race, gender, and class to students from rural and working-class backgrounds. The typical teaching load is 2 courses in Ethnic Studies and 2 courses in Women’s & Gender Studies per semester (4/4). Other duties may be assigned by the Department Chair and/or the program coordinators. Applicants will also be expected to participate in scholarly activities and department, college, university and public service. Additional teaching or other responsibilities may be available over the summer depending on program, college, or university needs and the interest of the selected candidate.

Required Qualifications:
- Completion of Ph.D. in Ethnic Studies or Women’s & Gender Studies (or a closely related field) by August 2020.
- Expertise in Ethnic Studies and Women’s & Gender Studies preferring specialization in areas such as Latinx Studies, Native American Studies, LGBTQ+Feminisms, or Masculinity Studies.
- Experience teaching topics of race, gender, class and sexuality at the college level.
- Experience working with diverse student populations: mentoring, participating in student organizations and/or advising.
- Demonstrated experience in applying varying pedagogies in curriculum development and instructional activities.
