Position Description
USC Upstate is seeking applicants for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Sociology to begin on August 16, 2019. The duties include; teaching a minimum of four courses per major semester, maintaining an active research agenda, and engaging in departmental and campus-wide service related activities, including advising sociology majors. Preference will be given to candidates whose focus is in social inequality, particularly race, class, and gender inequality, but candidates with specialties in other related areas are also encouraged to apply. Faculty position to teach on the Spartanburg and/or Greenville campus.

Experience with teaching online or hybrid courses is a plus. Required Education and Experience
Ph.D. in Sociology is required bythe time of appointment. A.B.D. candidates will be considered with an expectation of completion of doctorate by August 15, 2019. Successful background check is required.
Preferred Qualifications
In addition to a primary focus on inequality, the ideal candidate will also have experience and/or proficiency in one or more of the following areas: social statistics, sociology of the family, any other electives for sociology majors that complement our current faculty offerings and specializations.
