Assistant Professor of Criminology and Criminal Justice – Tenure Track
The Department of Sociology and Criminology at Cabrini University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the level of assistant professor beginning August 2019. The position is a nine-month appointment with annual review.
The successful candidate will teach coursework in the undergraduate and graduate programs. The successful candidate will enhance the expertise of the department through areas of specialization such as CJ public policy, cybercrime, homeland security, inequality and CJ, or other emerging areas within criminal justice. All faculty will have a scholarly research agenda, advising responsibilities and are expected to assume department and campus-wide committee responsibilities.
THE DEPARTMENT: The sociology and criminology department provides students with the conceptual and research skills to investigate and understand a variety of social experiences, from our everyday behaviors and interactions with friends and family to large-scale social institutions like economies, governments, and religions. Our majors learn to think critically and conduct research professionally. The department offers two majors, sociology and criminology. Both majors have the same central focus—the perspective of social structure and social processes—and receive the same grounding in statistics, research, and theory. The criminology major prepares students to apply their knowledge and skills to the specific social institutions related to crime and punishment.
