Responsibilities
- Teaching four courses (12 credits) each semester
- Teach introductory sociology courses and courses in social research methods. The incumbent would be expected to teach courses that would include, but are not limited to Introduction to Sociology (SOC 150), Introduction to Social Research (SOC 376), and other sociology courses per departmental needs
- Engage in scholarly research or creative achievement to enhance knowledge of field
- Provide evidence of continuing preparation and study in the field to enhance teaching abilities
- Contribute to student growth and development including student advising
- Support Winona State University's mission to enhance the intellectual, social, cultural and economic vitality of the people and communities we serve. Provide service to the university and community including the program, department, college, university and greater community.
- Instruct courses in varied locations, at varied times, and via various media commensurate with department and university needs
- Earned doctorate in Sociology
- Demonstrated commitment to quality teaching
- Relevant teaching experience at the college level
- Evidence of quality college-level teaching
- Experience teaching courses, including introductory sociology and introductory social research methods
- Experience teaching upper-division sociology courses currently offered at WSU
- Record of graduate coursework supporting prospective teaching assignments
- Record of research supporting prospective teaching assignments
- Relevant non-academic and/or professional experience
- Leadership abilities
- Effective communication skills
- Skills/ability to integrate technology to enhance learning and teaching
