It seems like the board is full of pissing contests and negativity. Reading all of this just makes me more depressed about my job prospects, which then makes it harder for me to write. So, how about we attempt to have (at least) one positive thread where we encourage one another to make progress on our dissertations and other papers/projects.
My security check was "Get a Better Game." That said, what are some tips that people have for getting motivated (read forcing yourself) to write your dissertation when the whole process feels pointless?
1) I try not to check this board until I've at least put in one hour of writing.
2) Even when I feel stuck I force myself to sit in my chair and stare at my work. On these types of days, I often open another word document and just freewrite about what it is I'm stuck on.
What tips do people have for getting unstuck? For making progress everyday? For staying motivated?
And go...

A-Time and B-Time help me out.
B-Time involves tasks I can do along with something else.
B-Time would be things like my 9-5 job (I manage a bar), where I find myself doing things work related but also checking personal emails, responding to students in my classes, etc.
A-Time is for two things: writing and family. I set asided the little free time I have for these two things.
Today, my A-Time for writing is between now and 4:30, when I go to pick my daughter up from daycare. She's added motivation for me to get my stuff done, as well. Don't want to let her down.
