Ph.D. in Sociology, Criminology, or related discipline by August 16, 2019. Candidates much show an ability to teach research methods/design and quantitative methods at the undergraduate and graduate levels and to contribute substantively to one or more of our four areas of department foci, namely: (1) Environment and Natural Resources, (2) Food, Agriculture, and Development, (3) Crime, Law, and Deviance, (4) and Social Inequality, Social Justice, and Governance.

The Department seeks an individual broadly trained in research methods and who has substantial expertise in quantitative methods. The successful candidate will have a strong research record using quantitative methods in one or more of the department foci: (1) Environment and Natural Resources; (2) Food, Agriculture, and Development; (3) Crime, Law, and Deviance; (4) and Social Inequality, Social Justice, and Governance. In addition, the successful candidate should have the expertise to support students and faculty with some combination of a range of quantitative techniques (e.g., categorical and limited response variables, multilevel modeling, structural equation modeling, agent-based modeling, social network analysis, spatial methods, comparative historical methods, time series analysis, etc.).
Candidates are sought who can work effectively and collegially with a professionally diverse faculty and in an interdisciplinary university setting. The Department seeks applicants with the ability to advance our commitment to diversity and inclusion through research, teaching, and outreach with relevant programs, goals, and activities.
