The Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice at the University of Hartford invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position to begin Fall 2019. We are seeking a candidate with a primary research interest in urban sociology. Desired secondary areas include Medical Sociology/Public Health, Environmental Justice, or Aging. Opportunities for collaborative research exist within the department’s Center for Social Research. Applicants with a Ph.D. in sociology in hand are preferred, but ABD applicants who expect to complete their degree by August 2019 will be considered.
The teaching responsibilities for this position include courses in urban sociology, introductory sociology, and in the areas of secondary interest. There will also be opportunities to teach in our innovative, University Interdisciplinary Studies (UIS) curriculum. Candidates should show a willingness and ability to employ technology in teaching. Candidates committed to encouraging underrepresented minorities to become engaged in the field of social scientific research are strongly encouraged to apply.
