Position
Eureka College values excellent teaching at the college level that employs a variety of methods to enable all learners in the classroom. The small college reality requires professors who can be interdisciplinary and generalist in approach while still engaged in, and engaging about, their specific discipline. Professors are expected to serve on departmental and college committees, and to continue professional activity and/or scholarly research. A position in Social Science and Business Division with teaching duties to include a course load of 8 courses (24 hours) per academic year, typically four courses per semester. Courses include, but are not limited to, Introduction to Sociology, Cultural Anthropology, Minority Peoples, Marriage & Family, Social Stratification and Death & Dying. Advising Criminal Justice/Sociology Majors and Minors, with contributions to academic programming efforts with the Division. Assisting in the recruitment of prospective students.
Position Requirements
Applicants must have a PhD or be ABD with the requirements for the PhD in Sociology, with an emphasis in Race, Class and Gender, completed by the time of appointment August 1, 2018. Salary will be competitive and commensurate with education and experience. Desired are candidates who share a commitment to a liberal arts education and can demonstrate the potential for excellence in teaching, service, and scholarship.
