The Department of Legal Studies at The University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) is seeking applications for two nine month tenure-track Associate Professor positions. The positions are for the Criminal Justice program. The University of Mississippi is included in the elite group of R-1: Doctoral Universities – Highest Research Activity by the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education.
The Department is housed within the School of Applied Sciences in Oxford, MS. In addition to our recognition as one of the best colleges in the nation to work for by The Chronicle of Higher Education, Ole Miss has also been acknowledged for the second year in a row in the Chronicle’s 2017 Great Colleges Honor Roll, an award given to only 10 universities with an enrollment of more than 10,000 students. The Department currently offers a B.S. and a M.S. in Criminal Justice and a B.S. in Paralegal Studies.
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Criminal Justice or Criminology. Successful candidates will have a record of peer-reviewed publications in high impact journals, an established capacity to secure and maintain extramural funding, a demonstrated ability to effectively teach undergraduate and graduate students, and a clearly articulated service agenda. Expectations are commensurate with Research 1 institutions. Areas of specialization are open, although candidates must demonstrate teaching expertise in the areas of criminal justice research methods and statistics at the graduate level.
Applicant will be responsible for conducting excellent research, teaching, and providing service to the Department/School/University, the academic discipline, and the community.
