Assistant Professor Department of Sociology, Anthropology and Criminal Justice College of Liberal Arts CLA-N-3127 Position: The College of Liberal Arts invites applications for a tenure-track, 10-month Assistant Professor position in criminal justice in the Department of Sociology, Anthropology and Criminal Justice beginning August 2018.
Qualifications: PhD in Criminology, Criminal Justice or Sociology. ABD applicants considered, but appointment will be at the Instructor rank and all degree requirements must be completed by February 1, 2019. Teach both upper and lower-level courses in either criminal justice or criminology, including Research Methods/Crime Analysis and/or Theories. Focus area is open. Seek applicants with civic engagement experience or interest who can link our students to the local or global community. Strong commitment to excellent in teaching and working with a diverse student population and show clear potential for scholarly research and publication. Interest in pursuing external funding is desirable.
Responsibilities: Faculty assigned an instructional workload of six (6) course units per academic year for the first year. Beginning the second year the workload reverts back to the standard instructional workload of seven to eight (7-8) course units. Teach a course on Research Methods/Crime Analysis and/or Theories, as well as a mix of other lower and upper-level courses. Maintain an active research agenda with consistent and demonstrated scholarship activity, advise undergraduate students, and participate actively in shared governance. This position will contribute both to our course offerings on Towson’s main campus and at the Towson University in Northeast Maryland campus in Harford County.
