Senior searches often move a bit slower than Junior ones.

What is up with the open search at Dartmouth? I'm sure someone has heard something by now. Deadline was mid-Sep.

not sure if this is out there... deadline is 12/1/17 and pref is for assistant. got info from a friend in that dept. Dartmouth College. The Department of Sociology invites applications for a full-time tenure-track appointment. The position is open to early-career sociologists in any area of the discipline, with preference for candidates whose research deals with issues of inequality and social justice. Candidates should complement the department's existing strengths, such as race and ethnicity; social psychology, sociology of health/medicine, and political, economic and organizational sociology. The successful candidate will be appointed initially as a Faculty Fellow, which includes a two-year residential postdoctoral appointment, beginning July 1, 2018. After this two-year period, the position will convert to a regular tenure-track appointment beginning July 1, 2020. Faculty Fellows are part of a cohort of faculty committed to increasing diversity in their disciplines. Fellows receive structured mentoring and participate in professional development programming; they teach one course in the second year. Dartmouth has a strong commitment to supporting both quality research and teaching. This goal is facilitated by the quarter system, which allows the four course annual classroom teaching load to be covered in two tenĀ¬ week terms with a third term in residence for research and other departmental obligations and a fourth term off. For more information about the department, see: sociology.dartmouth.edu/. Applicants should have a PhD in sociology or be ABD with PhD expected by July 1, 2018; preference will be given to applicants who have held a PhD less than 3 years. We will begin reviewing applications on December 1, 2017. Applicants should upload athttp://apply.interfolio.com/46745 a curriculum vitae; a cover letter detailing (1) current and future research plans, (2) teaching experience and philosophy, and (3) prior and potential contributions to diversity in the context of academic research, teaching, and/or service; two samples of written work; and letters from three references. Dartmouth College is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer with a strong commitment to diversity and inclusion. We prohibit discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, disability, veteran status, marital status, or any other legally protected status. Applications by members of all underrepresented groups are encouraged.

I saw this posted on the ASA job bank but assumed that it was a different position than the one folks have been asking about thus far: The Department of Sociology invites applications for a tenured (Associate/Full) or tenurable (Advanced Assistant) full-time appointment beginning fall 2018. The position is open to sociologists with a PhD in any area of the discipline. Special consideration will be given to candidates who build on existing strengths in the department. For more information about the department, see: sociology.dartmouth.edu/. We will begin reviewing applications on September 15, 2017, until the position is filled. The position is contingent on funding approval. Do you know from your friend if this is replacing the previously posted position or is in addition to it? not sure if this is out there... deadline is 12/1/17 and pref is for assistant. got info from a friend in that dept.
