Bridgewater State University’s Department of Criminal Justice invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position to begin Fall 2018. A large, growing, dynamic department (15 full-time faculty) with a strong social justice orientation in both theory and practice seeks faculty committed to excellence in teaching, mentoring of students, and research. We seek a candidate with a demonstrable, significant commitment to teaching who is an active and productive scholar. BSU’s 278 acre campus (of over 11,000 students) is located about 30 miles south of Boston, MA.
Bridgewater State University has many thriving programs and centers in areas such areas as a prelaw program, the Martin Richard Institute for Social Justice, and the Center for Multicultural Affairs. We also place a high value on undergraduate research and making connections outside the university through service-learning and faculty research projects
Essential Duties: Bridgewater State University has a 12 credit per semester teaching responsibility (most often implemented with a three-course preparation) supported with significant professional development opportunities and guidance. Faculty members maintain research programs, perform departmental and campus service, and advise majors in the department. Opportunities exist for developing new programs, running interdisciplinary programs, teaching short travel courses abroad, and pursuing research with undergraduates and graduate students, with university support.
