POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
TITLE: Full Time (100%), Non-Tenure Track, Term, Instructor in the Medical/Dental Education Preparatory Program (MEDPREP) in the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine Carbondale.QUALIFICATIONS: M.S. degree required, preferably in the behavioral and social sciences or a related field. Teaching experience required, prefer experience teaching behavioral or social sciences at the college level. Prefer demonstrated work experiences in programs involving educationally and/or economically disadvantaged students. Sensitive to the needs of underrepresented minority populations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Teach introductory psychology and sociology with emphasis on preparation for the Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT). Teach seminars aiding in the health professions schools application process. Teach and supervise a clinical experience course. Team teach a career development course. Tutor and advise a caseload of 15 MEDPREP students. Will be expected to serve on departmental committees. Demonstrates, by actions, commitment to the mission and the behavioral standards of SIU School of Medicine. Provides excellent service to both internal and external customers through collaboration and partnership; compassion and respect; integrity and accountability; diversity and inclusion; as well as continuous learning and improvement.
