The Department of Sociology, Anthropology and Criminal Justice invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position beginning August 2018. Applicants should have a PhD in Sociology by the time of appointment. Specializations of interest are social policy and health including (but not limited to) medical sociology, the social determinants of health, social psychology, mental illness, disabilities, addictions, and/or child and adolescent well-being.
Interested individuals must demonstrate both an active research agenda and a track record of publishing their work in well-respected peer-reviewed outlets. Applicants should also exhibit a clear strategy for funding their research through external grants, with preference given to those with prior success in securing extramural funding.
Ideal candidates will also demonstrate a willingness and ability to teach across the discipline of Sociology in introductory, methods, and specialized topical courses. Applicants should highlight how they might contribute to the M.S. in Applied Sociology degree. The Department of Sociology, Anthropology and Criminal Justice has a high standard of instruction and strong expectations for teaching excellence. All tenure-track faculty receive a 2/2 teaching load.
