This is a two-year appointment beginning in 2017-18. General Description:The Department of Sociology at Pacific Lutheran University seeks candidates for a full-time visiting position at the rank of Assistant Professor/Instructor. This is a two-year appointment beginning in 2017-18. The successful candidate will be a generalist with primary specialization in deviance and experience teaching introduction to sociology. Essential Functions and Responsibilities:The candidate will teach six courses per academic year. In 2017-18, the courses include Introduction to Sociology (2 sections), Deviance, Special Topics, and other courses to be determined based on department needs and the successful candidate's interests. Additional duties include academic advising. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Commitment to and record of effective teaching at the undergraduate level is required. Required Qualifications:PhD must be in hand by September 1, 2017 for appointment at the Visiting Assistant Professor level. ABD is required by September 1, 2017 for appointment at the Instructor level.
