I'm working on my 'evidence of teaching excellence' but I keep wondering exactly what that means in terms of what to include and how long it should be. Is this a teaching portfolio? Other than teaching evaluations and some assessment tools, is there anything else to include? thanks.

My application (last cycle) included a teaching statement/philosophy that was similar (but shorter) than my research statement. It talked about my 'take' on teaching, my (also included separately) evaluations and awards, how I approach classroom learning, what I'm interested (and willing/able/competent) to teach now (specific to the place I was applying to), what I'd be interested in teaching in the future (again, specific to the place/job ad), etc. The entire thing was 2-3 pages double spaced. This is obviously going to be harder to write if you have relatively less teaching experience, but you can talk more about the 'what ifs' than the 'what is' in terms of teaching philosophy.
