ROLE of the POSITION
The Department of Sociology at the University of Nevada Las Vegas invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor. We seek a scholar who can teach introductory and advanced statistical methods, and whose areas of specialization include sociology of health and/or medical sociology. Applicants must demonstrate their ability to teach and to conduct independent research with the potential to develop a strong record of scholarship. The successful candidate will (a) teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Introductory and Advanced Statistical Methods, and Research Methods as well as in their areas of specialty, (b) supervise masters and doctoral students, (c) be prepared to seek extramural research funding, and (d) demonstrate awareness of and sensitivity to the educational goals of a multicultural student population through training, teaching, and other comparable experience. Review of applicants will begin on March 10, 2017 and continue until the position is filled.
QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Sociology at the time of appointment and demonstrate the achievement or strong promise of scholarly success, as well as the ability to acquire extramural research funding.
SALARY RANGE
Salary competitive with those at similarly situated institutions. Position is contingent upon funding.
