Job Description:
The Department of Sociology and Anthropology invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level, beginning Fall 2017. The successful candidate will work in the areas of gender, health, family, and/or social welfare. Candidates should demonstrate their contributions to at least one of these subfields. Preference will be given to candidates with qualitative research and teaching skills.
All faculty members at Farmingdale State College have three workload components: teaching, research and scholarly activity, and service. Service includes advising students as well as serving on departmental and college-wide committees. The successful candidate will demonstrate an interest and high level of competence in teaching. Candidates should have a research agenda that complements their area of academic specialty and has the potential for peer-reviewed publications and presentations, both of which are necessary for promotion and tenure at Farmingdale State College.
Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS: PhD by August 2017, Experience in the areas of gender, health, family, and/or social welfare. Excellent written and oral communications skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Prior independent teaching experience in the areas of gender, health, family, and/or social welfare.
Additional Information:
This is a full-time, 10 month faculty position.
