Publishing reports that provide insight into the performance of the institution.
Assessing and evaluating Stanford's academic and co-curricular support programs
Building data collections and facilitating access to data, including providing training and tools

The Assessment and Program Evaluation team provides timely, accurate, and thorough reporting on various measures of academic performance, program efficacy, and student outcomes. Research areas include assessment of graduate and undergraduate student performance, and pedagogical, curricular, and programmatic initiatives.
The primary job function of the Survey Research Analyst (SRA) is to provide strategic information analysis and decision support to contextualize institutional decision-making. The Survey Research Analyst will do this by conducting student, faculty, and staff surveys and reporting on the results that will assist University management in making sound policy decisions. Responsibilities include:
Assist in the formation of the University's survey research agenda by keeping abreast of available surveys, peer activities, and current issues on campus.
Conduct or assist in conducting surveys of faculty, staff and students. Ensure the quality of the survey instrument, seek IRB approvals, and ensure privacy and confidentiality. Strive for high response rates through good timing, incentives, and quality survey instruments.
Collect and analyze results of surveys. Write reports, create visual aids, and communicate results in a concise manner to University management.
Work collaboratively with various central administrative and school staff, as well as faculty, on institutional fact-finding, policy development, and practical implementation teams/committees/task forces/work groups.
On an ongoing basis, review higher education research literature to identify emerging research approaches and apply them to the Stanford setting.
Respond to ad-hoc queries from students, faculty, other offices within the institution, and external parties. Meet with students, faculty, and administrators to present, discuss, and explain research findings as needed.
Work collaboratively with institutional research staff at peer institutions on data sharing, research, and policy analysis that contributes in a direct way to Stanford decision-making.
QUALIFICATIONS: The SRA should have sound knowledge of survey techniques, statistics, and a tool for processing survey data (preferably SPSS or SAS). It is also preferred that the SRA understand higher education, and the commonly used student, faculty and staff surveys used in the field of higher education. The SRA must have demonstrated ability to fully exploit the capabilities of desktop word-processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software. Familiarity with web page design and maintenance is desirable.
Four-year college degree or equivalent required. Preferred field of study: statistics, sociology, math, operations research, education. Advanced degree (e.g., MA, MS, JD, PhD) preferred.
