The Department of Sociology and Criminology at Rider University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position to begin in September 2017. We seek candidates with a Ph.D. in Sociology, Criminology, Criminal Justice, or a related field who have potential to contribute to our new Criminal Justice major. The area of specialization is open but we have a need for someone who can teach courses on Policing, Law and Society, and Criminal Investigation. Doctoral students who are ABD and who are nearing completion of the dissertation will also be considered.
The 10 month work year has a standard teaching load of 3 fall/3 spring classes, with 13-week semesters. Summer teaching opportunities are available on the Rider campus. Tenure-track faculty members are expected to conduct research leading to publications in quality refereed journals, and participate in department, school, and university service activities. Summer research fellowships and other research funding are available.
