There were a bunch of schools with 9/15 deadlines. I thought it would be too soon to hear anything but Toronto has already scheduled talks for two of their 9/15 lines. Any news on progress for others? Some of these include Penn State, Pitzer, Hamilton, Dartmouth, Syracuse, Penn (Health), NYU, and Northwestern...

If this is "the big one" I'm totally failing so far. Nada.

If you're failing - I'm failing
Some of these positions were the ones I felt MOST qualified for compared to the one billion 10/1 applications That's concerning.

Are we sure people have heard about fly-outs for the 9/15 deadlines? Seems like the committee would have reviewed applications the week of 9/19. Then, met the week of 9/26 to create a long short list. This week would be a meeting to create the short list and run the list through the university bureaucracy. Seems like people would hear near the end of the week this week at best, assuming there are not hiccups (i.e. meetings canceled, people out of town, difficulty deciding on fly-out dates, arguments over the short list).
Am I missing something on why people think the 9/15 fly-outs have already been scheduled?

it's possible that most of these haven't made any moves at all that applicants would know about.

I think Toronto had a position that closed on 9/8, so it's a week ahead of everybody else who closed on 9/15. I hear you all; I also haven't heard anything YET. As of 10/5, I'm still hopeful... Good luck everyone.

Lots of jobs that closed the search in the first week of September haven't moved at all either. I know it's tough, but try to relax. The list of jobs that you've already been ruled out of is very very very short right now.
